Typo tolerance
The search finds results even when a customer enters a query with a typo or grammatical error
Key features: Fuzzy search · Automatic correction · Better UX
Typos? No problem
Everyone makes mistakes, especially on a phone. Our system automatically recognizes typos and finds products even when words are misspelled. The customer doesn't have to correct anything, and results appear instantly.
What errors the system handles
Transposed letters
"grnaule" instead of "granule" — the system automatically recognizes the correct product.
Missing letters
"phne" instead of "phone" or "tefon" instead of "telefon" will be found correctly.
Extra letters
"shooes" instead of "shoes" or "shoesss" — the system understands the customer's intent.
Incorrect diacritics
"cokolada" instead of "čokoláda" or "zarovka" instead of "žárovka" works without issues.
Similar-sounding letters
"kofeina" vs "kofejna", "wanna" vs "wana" — phonetically similar expressions are also found.
Grammatical forms
The system understands declension and conjugation, so it finds products in different grammatical forms.
Never lose a customer because of a typo or grammatical error in the search.
How does it work?
We use advanced fuzzy search algorithms that calculate the similarity between the entered text and product names. The system automatically determines what distance between words is still acceptable.
For each query, we analyze several variants:
- Exact match (highest priority)
- Match with one typo
- Match with two typos (for longer words)
- Phonetic similarity of words
Results with typos receive a slightly lower score than exact matches, so when the customer types correctly, they see the most relevant products first.
